Our services

We recognise that every child is different and aim to support them on their own journey. Therefore, our therapy plan and approach is flexible for each child. We will explore what service is best suited to your child's unique individualised goals and needs.

Individual Occupational Therapy

We provide 1:1 therapy for your child in their home, school or within the community. This therapy is individualised and guided by family focused goals.

Group Programs

Group Programs - Sense AFL and Sense Rugby

Sense AFL and Sense Rugby are Occupational Therapy programs designed to help children who usually find it difficult to be part of a sports team. We use sport as our tool for therapy. There are many reasons why children may struggle to find success and enjoyment in sport. We are here to help you understand why and send them on their way to success.

Some of the goals families have when they join a Sense AFL or Sense Rugby program include for their children to:

  • Have fun!

  • Develop their confidence and self-esteem

  • Find a regular activity that can be their own

  • Learn a new skill that gives them a great community to belong to for life

  • Find a way to get the movement they seek in an appropriate environment

  • Work on their gross motor and co-ordination skills

  • Make friends

  • Learn how to follow instructions, wait their turn and be part of a group

  • Learn how to manage their emotions

  • Improve their ability to self-regulate

..and many more!

Our weekly group sessions currently run in Box Hill, Elwood and Prahran.

We also run in-school group sessions during lunch breaks. Reach out if interested.

School Partnerships

Working alongside schools is at the heart of what we do

Some of the relationships we value most are the ones we've built with local schools and kinders. We spend most of our week in classrooms, playgrounds and staff rooms, and we've seen time and again that children make the most progress when their school and their therapy team are genuinely working together. That's the why behind our School Partnerships.

A partnership makes our OT input available across your whole school, not just the children who have their own therapy in place, and is built around what your students and staff need most. It can include:

  • Consulting days: classroom observations, sessions and practical strategies your teachers can use that same week

  • Support for Disability Inclusion applications, including specialist evidence and Records of Specialist Involvement

  • Lunchtime movement programs: weekly clinician-led groups building movement skills, regulation and confidence, where every child can have a go

  • Professional development for staff: twilight sessions or curriculum-day workshops on sensory needs and regulation in the classroom

  • Kinder movement and school-readiness programs

There's no cost to families - and there are several funding avenues open to schools and kinders for exactly this kind of support. We're always happy to talk through what might fit

Habits & Routines Coaches

Allied Health Assistant Program

At Foundations Therapy & Support we offer a Habits & Routines Coaching service which is designed by a Senior OT and facilitated by an Allied Health Assistant (AHA) to empower children to practice and embed therapy strategies to build real-life skills in a way that’s engaging, personalised, and meaningful.

The purpose of a Habits & Routines Coach is to bring energy and consistency to your child’s week by helping implement their therapy plan in the home or community. They achieve this by assisting the child to:

  • Building independence with morning, afternoon and bedtime routines

  • Developing skills in personal care, such as dressing, brushing teeth or managing hygiene

  • Enhancing organisation and transitions for school and community participation

  • Supporting community access when a parent/guardian may not be available

  • Establishing sustainable habits and routines through fun, strengths-based interaction

The Process

At Foundations Therapy & Support, we take the time to understand each child's strengths, interests, family values and level of independence across different settings. Individual and group sessions are tailored to suit the needs of your child in a real-life environment.
